Horta Airport has long provided a much-used gateway into the very heart of the Azores islands within this scenic archipelago, allowing travellers to head in many different directions. The small terminal's facilities are limited to a post office and ATMs. Retail stores offer standard passenger and vacationer items, with stores such as Peter Fashions and Travelshopping by LFP.

Although Horta Airport does not have a restaurant as such, its two onsite cafés offer snacks and are open between 07:00 to 21:00. A VIP lounge is available for first-class and business travellers, as well as for a variety of formal functions.
