Located approximately 10 km / 6 miles from the urban centre of Horta city, the Horta Airport (HOR) is easy to find via a main road that is clearly marked with signposts. The city is accessible by taxi, with stands located outside the airport. Three car rental companies also offer services from the terminal and driving is the ideal way to get the most out of your visit to the Faial Island.
Traffic drives on the right-hand side in Horta and throughout Portugal, with cars approaching from the right always having the right of way, unless signposts indicate otherwise. However, this rule is often open to interpretation.
